As cheesy as it sounds red and pink decorations — with lots of hearts — are fun for any Valentine's Day party. Start by covering the table with a vibrant red tablecloth. Scatter heart confetti across the cloth. Set up the fondue pots and arrange large platters with the dippers around the pots. Stack appetizer plates and cocktail napkins on the ends of the table. Instead of using regular fondue picks use metallic heart picks. Fill vases with lush red tulip arrangements. For a super-festive atmosphere hang a Valentine's Day garland or banner, light-pink Christmas lights, and pink candles. Oh and the best part is, if you're hosting your party this weekend like I am, you may be able to pick up a lot of these decorations at half price!

This morning I asked you if you would eat a Marmite sandwich. Imagine my surprise when just a few hours later I discovered that London-based artist, Jeremy Fattorini, has created a giant sculpture made from it! His sculpture, which is a replica of Rodin's The Kiss, is 7-ft. tall and is made from 420 jars of the limited-edition "I Love You" Marmite. It was unveiled yesterday in London's Greenwich Park, just in time for Valentine's Day.

Would You Eat a Marmite Sandwich?

This year, Marmite — a cult British favorite — introduced a champagne flavor for Valentine's Day. The original Marmite is made from a yeast extract and is a dark brown, salty paste with an intense flavor similar to soy sauce. The paste is then spread on toast or crackers. Nigella Lawson is even known for her recipe for Marmite sandwiches in which she whisks butter and Marmite together and spreads it onto sliced white bread.The new limited-edition I Love You version contains a hint of champagne, but is still the same intense flavor. So what I want to know is, would you eat Marmite? How about a Marmite sandwich?

Lisa at TokyoMango tipped us off to the latest trend in Japanese candy. The Japanese have become known for their interesting flavor combos, and this time a company in Aomori, one of Japan's top garlic-producing regions, is combining garlic and chocolate.

Their product is called "black garlic chocolate" and it is a piece of fermented black garlic, covered with chocolate and sprinkled in cocoa powder. A garlic truffle if you will. The black garlic is said to have a sweet-and-sour, prune-like taste.

Although Japan is usually the first to create such offbeat flavors, this is not the first time I've heard of chocolate and garlic. The folks at the Gilroy Garlic Festival have been doing this for years. However this may be the first time I've heard of fermented prune-like garlic. You know I'd love to try a piece? How about you?

What Would You Do With a Chocolate Room?

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Godiva Chocolatier has debuted an entire, edible room made out of chocolate! The room contains a plush sofa you can actually sit on and chocolate renditions of famous artwork: Gustav Klimt's famous painting "The Kiss" made of multi colored chocolate pieces and a Jackson Pollock canvas of black and white chocolate drippings. Books are actually boxes of chocolates and the chandelier is made from chocolate pearls. It's so fab that even Heroes' Ali Larter couldn't keep her hands off of it.

So how much does a room like this cost? A mere $23! The room is being given away as part of a contest — anyone who buys a Valentine's box of chocolates could win the chocolate room. If I won, I'd have a wine and chocolate party and invite everyone I know to eat part of the room. How about you? What would you do with a chocolate room?

Now You Can Make Neapolitan S'mores

This weekend I was perusing the Valentine's Day section of my local Target when I noticed a bag of ~~charcoal~~ chocolate marshmallows. At first I only noticed the NEW! banner across the top — I'm a marketer's dream — and then I noticed that it was sitting on top of a bag of strawberry-flavored marshmallows. Those were not marked new and it got me wondering what other flavors there were. According to the Kraft website, there is also a Toasted Coconut flavor. I'm slightly surprised that toasted coconut appeared before chocolate, but then again I'm not a marshmallow expert.

These festive snacks looked like a lot of fun; I'm not even a fan of marshmallows and had the urge to buy one. I bet they would be nice in hot cocoa, and could possibly add another element to s'mores. So what do you think? Has anyone out there tasted these? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!

Careful, Consumption May Result in Elevated Romance Levels

I was at the drugstore the other day when I noticed an M&Ms display near the front counter. It caught my eye because the entire display was green: the packaging, the M&Ms, the display, everything. Once it had my attention, it was then the smaller print on the display made me chuckle:

I'm not sure where the myth comes from, but I definitely remember it from my childhood. According to urban legend, the green ones carry a mythical aphrodisiac-like quality. I guess it was only a matter of time before Mars, the maker of M&Ms, started making money off it. They've been playing it up in commercials for years, but now they're actually offering entire bags of the stuff. So forget red and pink for Valentine's Day; this year it's all about the green.
