Noooo! Is this what your doggie is doing when he won't come inside? At last, an anti-smoking PSA for dogs. It's about damn time!

Bare Bones: Reflective Gear

Bare Bones: Reflective Gear Now that it's nearly dark by the time I get home from work, it's time to start thinking about reflective gear for my four legged pal. Not only are there some pretty stylish and highly reflective rain jackets that pets can throw on before leaving the house for the evening potty walk, but if your pooch isn't the coat wearing type, you can always attach a safety light to his harness or collar to make sure he's seen even on the rainiest or darkest of nights. Take for example this Buddy Beacon ($13) from Ruffwear.

Pet Peeves: I'm Begging Him to Stop Begging! Q: My dog has the very annoying habit of begging for food. It's especially bad when we have people over for dinner – he literally walks from person to person waiting, sometimes jumping with paws up on their laps to see what's on the table or go for the food right off their fork (or plate) – help! A: Consistency is key to solving this problem.

Headline of the Day 2426919 Lion-Hearted Leo Has Courage Licked Or you can read my alternate headline: "OMG: Leo the Dog Saves Baby Kittens From Fire!!!" (This is why I'm not in the headline-writing business.) Picture this: A house is ablaze, and seven members of the family (save one brave dog and four helpless kittens) are outside screaming for firefighters to save the little critters. What should they find but valiant Leo the Jack Russell mix watching over the kittens in spite of the smoke and heat that surrounded him.

Dogs Take a Bite Out of Childhood Obesity We all know that having a dog is good for an adult's overall health, but did you know that it's also good for kids? Recent research has found that children who play with a family dog have been found to be up to 50 percent less likely to be overweight or obese than those who do not. Unlike adults, children do not even need to walk dogs.

WTF?!

WTF?! Is there a secret society of doggies that love to eat with their hind legs sticking straight up in the air? I guess that's one way to simultaneously take in, and burn off, calories. I may try this sometime.
