Axe, the men's grooming brand, has recently come out with a new line of
chocolate-inspired products. If girls like chocolate, they'll like a guy who smells like chocolate, right?
The concept seems a little out there to me, but I've never been a fan of fragrances that smell like food.

Last year, I sung the praises of a small chocolatier,
Chuao, for its unique and delicious flavor combinations, like strawberry balsamic and spicy Cabernet caramel. I had a chance to try their newest bar, the Firecracker, and it was no exception. The chocolate smelled typical enough — bittersweet and slightly smoky. But once I took a bite, my experience took a turn for the bizarre.

We never had much candy in my house when I was growing up, as my parents wanted to encourage us to eat healthy as much as possible. Every October, I would count down the days to
Halloween, when I knew I'd be going trick-or-treating. I looked forward to all candy, but in particular, I loved
Baby Ruth bars.

Last Friday after hearing
the news that Hershey's had changed its chocolate formula, YumSugar and I decided to perform a taste test. Luckily we had the perfect place to host a chocolate taste test —
CasaSugar's space at Park(ing) Day! For the taste test, we pitted
Nestle's Crunch against
Hershey's Krackel.

Happy national white chocolate day! To celebrate this delicious day, I've put together a quiz that tests your white chocolate knowledge. Ready?

Hit by the worsening economy and the
rising costs of raw materials, candy giant
Hershey's has not only
raised candy prices, but has also begun replacing cocoa butter, the ingredient that allegedly gives Hershey's candies their delicious flavor, with vegetable oil.
The formulas of candy products such as Whatchamacallit, Milk Duds, Mr. Goodbar, and Krackel, among
other candies, have been changed.

Events are all over the map this week, especially in New York and California. As usual, there's no shortage of festivals for the oenophile. The other activities, however, really demonstrate our country's appreciation for regional American foods, from shellfish on the Eastern seaboard to kolaches in Texas.

This week's so packed to the brim with festivals nationwide, you couldn't avoid one if you tried. There are food and wine classics all across the East Coast, and here in the West, we're planning on dropping by the
chocolate festival in our neck of the woods. If we've left anything out, please chime in below.

When I suggested that
chocolate-flavored calcium supplements make a good substitute for dessert, many of you weren't so into the high-fructose corn syrup that comes with most calcium chews. But I'm still concerned about
my daily calcium intake, and I still like a sweet bite after meals, so I was excited to discover
Adora Calcium Supplements ($6 for a 30-piece bag).
These dark-chocolate supplements are free of corn syrup, as well as gluten, artificial sweeteners, and other weird stuff.
