BADgal Plum as your absolute favourite (I love how
coloured mascara put up such a good fight)!
While I agree that Dior makes a fabulous product that lengthens, volumizes, adds shine and va-va-voom to your lashes, it also creates the exact opposite effect than what I strive for.

While drugstore varieties Maybelline and CoverGirl (along with luxe Lancôme) were neck-in-neck for second place in the
Best Mascara of 2008 showdown, it seems that the majority of you adore
Dior when it comes to mascara. Our very own
DearSugar agrees. "I can't tell you how much I love my Dior!"

Experts suggest that you toss your mascara every three months (
guidelines here), but that doesn't always happen. Lots of us hang on to mascara longer than that, even when things get clumpy. Yesterday,
geeksugar told me about her way to salvage the last bits of mascara.

Do you like yours waterproof? Tinted? Vibrating?

This has been a banner year for mascara! With the launch of vibrating wands, mini ball-shaped wands and dual-sided wands, one no longer has an excuse for having lashes that aren't curled, extended and lengthened. Out of the brands listed below, my personal favorite is
Firebird from Fresh because it doesn't clump or flake and it leaves you with a natural looking lash, only plumper.

Wearing brightly colored mascara is usually a lot of look, but it doesn't have to be. The newest varieties have just a hint of tint, adding depth and dimension without overpowering your lashes with color. They work by adding colored pigments to a dark base, which can play up your eye color without making you look like an extra in
The Warriors.

There's a considerable amount of buzz about two mascaras:
Ôscillation from Lancôme ($34) and
TurboLash ($30) from Estée Lauder. The dueling products both promise to add volume, length and curl to lashes through their vibrating wands. TurboLash sold out immediately upon its July debut, and Ôscillation had 21,000 names on a waiting list before launching this week.
The lovely, beautiful Josie Maran is making big waves with her line of eco-friendly cosmetics. (
Read my review here.) Now that you can find it
at Sephora, I highly recommend checking it out — particularly the lipsticks, which glide on like buttah. As for the mascara, which I haven't tried, the lasses behind
EcoStiletto came up with a clever way to test it: Chopping onions with Josie to see if the mascara runs.
We all know that looking beautiful is something of an art form, but now
Givenchy are celebrating the very special relationship between beauty and art to coincide with their new mascara. The revolutionary
Phenomen'Eyes, (£17.50), with its ground-breaking spherical brush has
certainly caught our attention. What is less well known is that
Parfums Givenchy has commissioned British artist Ian Wright to create a work of art using approximately 5,000 of the Phenomen'Eyes brushes.

If you haven't tried
tube mascaras yet, you'll be glad to know that drugstore versions are rolling out. One of the first is L'Oréal Double Extend Lash Extension Effect Mascara ($9.79), a two-step mascara with "beauty tube technology."
Tube mascaras are great for making lashes look longer, and because the formulas come off with warm water, they're much easier to remove.
