Holiday Survival: Make Water Your Go-To Drink

A while back a health report was released stating that there were really no health benefit to drinking 64 ounces of water daily. One specific aspect of water consumption this study cited was that drinking it doesn't necessarily lead to weight loss.

But according to RealAge.com, people who regularly drink water consume about 9 percent fewer calories daily. Those calories add up, too! This is because water drinkers sip calorie-free water more than sugary sodas or other drinks high in calories. Water drinkers tend to eat healthier, too. I guess you are what you drink, too.

Since the holiday season is full of tempting treats and champagne toasts, make a calorie-free water your go-to drink and save some calories for later. Maybe Santa's belly would be less like jelly if he drank more water? I'm just saying.

All I drink is water(well, and the occasional glass of skim milk). I really don't miss the soda. And I have noticed that I don't eat as much as I used to.

I love a good glass of filtered cold water. I don't care what it's for...I do know the health benefits (it's not what you are drinking but what you aren't) it just tastes good!

All I drink is water and tea... and ok, the occasional cup of coffee, but I am much more a tea drinker than coffee anyway Smiling I don't remember the last time I drank any kind of soda, though! And definitely not regular for years and years

I always carry a bottle of water with me where ever I go. Even just to a friends house.

"Water drinkers tend to eat healthier, too. I guess you are what you drink, too."

People who make an effort to drink a lot of water probably also make an effort to eat fewer calories and make healthier choices in general because they believe that drinking water is a healthy choice.

    Correlation =/= causation.

Put another way: you are not a healthy person because you drink 64 ounces of water, you drink 64 ounces of water because you are a healthy person who believes its a healthy choice.

I have absolutely no idea why fit keeps telling us to drink a ton of water, despite what medical evidence and studies state. It makes me question the reputability of this website. Water is essential for hydration, and a good substitute for diet sodas (which can be hard on the teeth), but this post is kinda baffling.

I'm not sure what scientist's motive are for certain studies. However water is needed because it DOES assist in flushing out the liver, hydrates us from the inside, fills us up, and all of this DOES lead to better skin, lower weight and an all around healthy body. This has been know for longer then all of us have even been born. Just cut water out of your diet for two weeks and let me know how that works out for ya. Hopefully everyone take these studies with a grain of salt.

I make a point of carrying a water bottle with me just to ensure that I don't end up guzzling soda and coffee all afternoon. However, I've found that a lot of times, drinking just water without eating anything makes my tummy feel upset. Has anyone else experienced this, or is it just me?

Put simply... You need to be hydrated. Water make it easy for your liver and kidneys. It's that it's replacing a drink much harder to process.

*Please use eco-friendly reusable water bottles and not plastic, we don't need more trash.
And remember you're not supposed to reuse, freeze or let plastic get hot. Hydration doesn't cure cancer from plastic chemical poisoning.

    K? Be safe!

I drink water and tea all day long. From the moment i get up to right before i go to bed. I carry a water bottle with me everywhere. I only drink alcohol if I go to my fiance's place and have a glass of wine or share a beer, or if I go out to dinner. If tea and water get too boring, i drink juice and water it down Smiling just can't get enough water here.

The thing is, water is a great drink and it's the best way to stay hydrated. But you don't need 64 ounces a day or whatever the recommendation was. You get a lot of water in your food and in the other beverages you drink...water's still the best choice though. Just don't expect it to be some sort of miracle drink or anything. They've proven that it doesn't make your skin any better or help with your hair/nails, etc. It IS the best thing there is to drink though...nothing artificial and no calories.
